Firefighters battle blaze at Midland County’s Robinson Industries

COLEMAN, MI — Firefighters are on the scene of a large blaze at a Midland County plastics factory.

The fire at Robinson Industries Inc., 3051 W. Curtis Road in Coleman, was reported around 5:20 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, according to Midland County Central Dispatch.

At 6:26 a.m., Central Dispatch issued an advisory that West Curtis is closed to traffic between M-18 and Magruder “for a large commercial fire.” Motorists are urged to avoid the area.

Firefighters from Coleman Community Fire Department, Beaverton Fire Department, and Midland Fire Department are on scene, shuttling water from stations. Midland County Sheriff’s deputies are also at the scene.

The scene was covered in heavy black smoke.

Robinson Industries, in business since 1947, specializes in designing and manufacturing pallets, packaging, and dunnage through single- or twin-sheet thermoforming or injection molding.
